Joshua Shepard was raised on a family farm in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was accepted to the University of Notre Dame and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in American Studies and a minor in Theology. He received a Master's and Ph.D. in Economics at the London School of Economics as well as an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Dartmouth College, where he was a tenured professor prior to entering politics. He speaks Latin, English, and German. He was a Nobel Laureate in Economics and the author of a book entitled Theory and Practice of Macroeconomics in Developing Countries. He is married to Dr. Amelia Shepard, a thoracic surgeon, and has three daughters. Before running for Congress, Shepard served on the New Hampshire State Board of Education.
