Biography:
Maxie “Max” Power was born to an English Father and a Irish (Northern Irish) Mother in Yakima Washington. Her Parents had moved to the Washington State Area during World War II and remained until Max left for High school. They did however become American Citizens in 1960 shortly after Max was born. This also curiously gave Max a status as a Dual English-American citizen, a detail of her life she rarely talks about. She inherited a home her grandparents in Cornwall which she uses as a personal vacation home.

Max was a tom boy early in her life active in scholastic, sports, and political pursuits. Her being a tomboy and her unusual english first name, which was a family tradition, lead to her being called “Max” by all of her friends. She played softball and high school basketball and was in several youth organizations. Max was President of her local Teenage Republican Chapter in High School and in 1976 was a volunteer for the Ronald Reagan primary campaign. She continued her work for Ronald Reagan as a student organizer in the University of Southern California. This early political start and her enrollment at the University of Southern California placed her in the office of Samuel Ichiye Hayakawa, first as an intern and then later as a staffer. Leading to her career working within the world of political staffs and campaigns. Her other major passion of the time, Women’s professional football was not going to pay her enough to start a career. Upon graduating with her Undergraduate Degree she was hired to work for former Washington Governor and United States Senator Dan Evans. She later moved to work for Sid Morrison who’s seat she won election to in the 1990 election. Her only time leaving the employ of Congressman Morrison was furing the 1988 Presidential Primary when she worked as a staffer for the Kemp Campaign for President in the early 1988 Presidential primary. Being Career driven Max has never had a serious relationship that has lasted more then 6 months and largely keeps who she is dating out of her public life.

A life long Yakima native and well established in the community by her work for the congressman and previously for Senator Evans put herself in a position to quickly gain a large amount of support in the Republican Primary and become the successor to Congressman Morrison . Maxie served in the united states for 2 years and got the bug to be elected to higher office and ran against Congressman Damien Thorne for the first Governor’s race of the West. In the process she stepped down from her congressional seat which opened it up for a special election in December. Max was classified as a “Ideological” or “Reagan” Republican. Due to a bad strategic choice in campaign management Maxie lost California and in turn lost the race. Maxie re-entered the race for the special election and re-won her congressional seat.
