Biography: Married, with Virginia Sawyer and two kids, and graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Chicago, in 1981. He worked in private business and married during the Reagan years and had his children then. He was elected to Congress for the third district for the United States Congress in 1990 as a Republican. Biography: Born June 4, 1961 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Married to Virginia Sawyer and had two kids, and graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Chicago, in 1983. He returned home in 1983 and worked in the private sector in North Carolina. He also married during the Reagan years and had his children then. He was elected to Congress for the sixth district in North Carolina for the United States Congress in 1990 as a Republican.

Holden Sawyer
In November 1992, Congressman Holden Sawyer was elected to the U.S. Senate as the Shenandoah Valley's Junior US Senator. The margin was 49.94-49.41%; the second closest Senate race in the nation. He is not due to stand for re-election til 1998.

In his victory he carried Virginia, Tennessee, and the deciding state, his home state of North Carolina.
