BIOGRAPHY
Congressman Pope was born on a ranch located in the pristine Morgan Valley, Utah. Raised Catholic the Congressman worked with his father, the second generation rancher of the same land, assisting with the dairy and feed operations of the live stock.
An eleventh generation American, the Congressman followed in the footsteps of his grandfathers going back five generations and accepted an appointment to the US Naval Academy at Annapolis Maryland. Following his reserve commission as an Ensign, unrestricted line officer, the Congressman was appointed to work in the Naval Security Investigations Command including assignments in the Naval Investigative Service and Office of Naval Intelligence. This nine year period had the Congressman deployed to Vietnam for one tour in Saigon, as well as overseas tours in Perth Australia with the Pacific Fleet.
Upon returning to the United States, the Congressman attended William and Mary Law School and achieved his Juris Doctorate. After completing Naval Justice School at Newport Rhode Island, the Congressman followed a 14 year career in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the US Navy culminating in his final duty assignment as the Assistant to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations for Legal and Legislative Affairs and the Rank of Captain.
The Congressman retired from the Navy and returned home to Utah to the homestead of his family after the passing of his father. With the support and urging of his colleagues and neighbors, the Congressman completed a successful bid for the Congressional Seat of Utahs First District.
When not in Washington DC, the Congressman lives on his family ranch in Morgan, Utah with his wife of 20 years Caitlin, their two sons Thomas, Jonathan and their Daughter Elizabeth.
